When I went into my girlfriend’s bathroom in the evening,

I froze the moment I saw it.

There, against the cool surface of the bathroom tiles, was something that didn’t belong—at least not in any version of reality my brain could immediately process.

It had a strange, translucent sheen, like glass softened by heat. The shape was uneven, almost pulsing in appearance, as if it had formed naturally rather than been placed there.

It clung to the tile in a way that made it look alive, or at least recently alive. For a split second, my mind didn’t even try to be rational. It went straight to alarm.

Parasites. Eggs. Something crawling out of the drain.

I didn’t say anything at first. I just stared, trying to make sense of what I was seeing, hoping that if I looked long enough it would reveal itself as something normal.

But it didn’t. It just sat there—quiet, glossy, and deeply unsettling.

My girlfriend walked in behind me, took one look, and stopped cold.

“What is that?” she asked, her voice already tense.

“I… don’t know,” I admitted.

That was enough to shift the air in the room. We both went silent, standing a few feet away like the thing might react if we got too close.

It’s strange how quickly uncertainty turns into distance—how your body instinctively steps back from something you can’t name.

Neither of us reached out. Neither of us wanted to be the one to confirm it was real by touching it.

Instead, I pulled out my phone.

I crouched slightly, zooming in, taking photos from different angles like documentation might somehow give me control over the situation.
